The pleasure of fresh, vibrant fruit
Imagine a pic-nic in the woods around the town of Montepulciano - perhaps in search of the delicious portobello mushrooms which can be found here during the automn months.
After a long walk, immagine unpacking your pic-nic basket and sharing sandwiches, cheeses, prosciutto and fruit with your friends.
Immagine the pleasure of enjoying a glass of Lodola Nuova Rosso di Montepulciano - the perfect companion for the good moments in life.
The Montepulciano area is known primarily for its Vino Nobile, produced with Prugnolo Gentile cultivated in the many vineyards which shape the landscape of southern Tuscany.
From the same grape variety a second wine is also produced, the Rosso di Montepulciano.
The warm climate, characterised by moderate rainfalls and substantial day-night temperature swings, attributes to the forming of the Prugnolo Gentile's sweet, pleasant fruity profile. The area of Montepulciano is, in fact, perfect for the production not only of full-bodied, long-lived reds, but also of crisp, young red wines, aged briefly in large oak barrels in order to preserve the integrity of the fruity aromas.
For this reason Ruffino has decided to produce a Rosso di Montepulciano. This young, pleasant red, which is distinguished by a very favourable price/quality ratio, has been added to the other more full bodied estate wines, starting with vintage 2004.
Lodola Nuova Rosso di Montepulciano is a young red wine produced with Prugnolo Gentile grapes carefully selected in the vineyards, followed by a vinification process where low fermentation temperatures and carefully controlled pumping overs enhance the fragrant nature of this variety and generate a gentle wine, perfect for enjoying while it's young.
Lodola Nuova Rosso di Montepulciano is a very versatile wine which can be matched with a wide variety of Mediterranean dishes.
